Since the inaugural 1996 ride, the Ride for Roswell has grown to become one of the nation’s largest charity cycling events in the country. Building on the placement of a commemorative sculpture in 2017, Roswell turned to our Landscape Architects to build a vision for a park dedicated to the recognition of the fundraisers and volunteers that have helped raise millions of dollars to fund research in the fight against cancer.

Our role as landscape architects involved reimagining Pathways Park, ensuring alignment with donor aspirations and campus aesthetics. Working closely with its donors and the Ride founder, the design establishes a series of seating areas surrounded by lushly planted gardens culminating in a radiant plaza honoring donors and volunteers.

Deliberate material selection imbues reverence while accommodating Ride for Roswell dedications. With an emphasis on preserving mature trees, our design harmonizes with Buffalo’s urban fabric, integrating seamlessly with existing circulation patterns and streetscape geometries.

Despite its modest size, the park accommodates multifaceted programs, including housing sculptures emblematic of hope and fundraising recognition spaces including the signature plaza which artfully integrates a radiant celebration of the collective spirit of individuals united for a commons cause: a world without cancer. The Ride for Roswell Pathways Park received the 2024 Honor Award for Built Design from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) New York Upstate Chapter.
