Fisher Associates Landscape Architecture Studio Receives Two ASLA Awards at New York Upstate Ceremony

We’re honored to announce our recognition at the New York Upstate American Society of Landscape Architects awards ceremony in Syracuse, where we were presented two ASLA Awards for our built work. Ride for Roswell Pathways Park received the Honor award in the built work category, and Paula Agrusa Plaza, at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Management earned a Merit Award in the same category.

These projects showcase our core purpose of cultivating our gifts to create a legacy of infrastructure that improves quality of life. Kudos to our entire team, with special acknowledgment to our Project Managers, Ryan Kovac, RLA, ASLA, and Jan Brath, RLA, ASLA, CLARB, for their outstanding contributions.

Ride for Roswell Pathways Park, nestled in the heart of Buffalo, stands as a tribute to resilience and community spirit. Developed in collaboration with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and A-1 Land Care Inc., this park celebrates the collective efforts in the fight against cancer through lush gardens and seating areas. The design of the park embodies the journey of riders, fundraisers, and volunteers, symbolizing their dedication and perseverance. It provides a serene space for reflection and gathering, fostering a sense of unity among all who visit.

Paula Agrusa Plaza, a meticulously designed space, serves as a gateway to the north campus of the University at Buffalo. Developed with Watts Architects & Engineers and SJB Services, Inc / Empire Geo Services, Inc., it integrates various elements including a fire pit and canopy-covered event area with WiFi, and several seating options for individuals and groups fostering unity and heritage. The plaza is both a functional space and a hub for academic engagement and social interaction. It facilitates outdoor learning environments and serves as a venue for campus events, enhancing the overall campus experience for faculty, students, and visitors alike. The space was made possible by Alumnus Russ Agrusa and the space is in memory of his late wife Paula Agrusa, also a UB Alumni.

This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the trust and collaboration of our amazing clients. Thank you Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and University at Buffalo for giving us the opportunity to put form to your vision and bring it to life!
